Any word yet on whether this phone is coming in the next month? i really want to get an idea of when i can get it cause my son wants it and his birthday is in late january.

I own it for a month - a stylish smart phone, but nothing more. The software is far behind the design. E.g. after having called someone from the contacts it needs three clicks in different places to step by step get back to the default contacts view. Awkward. With Linux potentially being the best operating system for mobiles it has been crippled by Motorola to just allow Java Apps. There are only few available that work on the A1600. I have still high hopes in modders to adapt other Linux based OSs.
No 3G/UMTS, nor WiFi.
EDGE is fast enough for emails and syncing is possible (but troublesome) for PC via Motorola Phone Tools (pay extra). No syncing with Mac so far. I don't know about the US, for Germany no GPS maps are available and other software doesn't recognize the GPS unit.
Apart from the former critics – it really has potential to become a geek phone!
