User Reviews & Recommendations

so far i like it (Islam, Eqypt)

User Rating:

I've had this phone for a week now, initially I went to the shop to buy 6300, but being next to each other on the display, the 5310 looked waaaay cooler, attracted my site at the first glance, being thinner and lighter are two other advantage. here is my review in pluses and minuses: Pluses: 1-Nice size and weight 2-Attractive looking 3-The phone part of it is comparable to all nokias, they all have the same software almost. 4-the music part of it is amazing, all I had to do is connect it to my PC and copy my songs on the memory card (2GB came with it) and enjoy them in the car (using an FM modulator to play them on the car stereo), music is clear and nice, even on headphones. 5-connecting a head phone using regular 3.5mm jack, which is way better than the stupid flad old style nokia connector, you can use any type of ear or headphones you want, you can even connect it to a surround system or to a car stereo that accepts 3.5mm jack, or through an FM modulator, and recieve it on the car radio, and if you ruined the cable of the earphones that come with it (always happens to me), you can simply through them and get another pair, not expensive. 6-nice screen, good color and bright background Minuses: 1-Battary life is OK for a phone, but not for an MP3 player, if you are a music lover, you'll have to charge it almost daily. 2 Phone size is good for a pocket shirt, but small for a person with such big hands like mine, but this is not everyone's problem 3-phone is very light, I'm afraid I'll forget it somewhere, I think I'll get a neck strap for it 4-phone appears to be very fragile, I didn't break it, but I feel that I have to pay extra care on handling 5-the USB connector is a small size, not the regular standard size like nokia 5300, no, a small one, if you lost this cable, it's unreplacable, and its port on the phone is covered with a stupid plastic peice that I"m sure I'll break it within a week maximum. 6-all nokia phones come with a plastic protection for the screen and camera lens, but it has a loose end, so it gets out soon, why don't they make those protection permenant? 7-the phone takes ages to recharge, at least 3 hours on the attached charger, it says in the manual you can't use another charger, except AC3 or AC4, this is not practical. but as a whole, I think it's a good phone till now, only got to get used to it. I would recommend it if you want to use it for music playing, if not, go for 6300. I haven't considered sony ericson at all as an option, here in Kuwait where I live, everyone uses Nokia, so you can easily find a charger anywhere if you're busted with no battary and you're on call. you can also easily sell it if it's Noia.

nearly everything (Phil, UK)

User Rating:

First impressions of this phone are Wow it's tiny, so slim & light it's hard to believe you're holding a mobile phone, camera & MP3 player. I was very impressed with the sound/speaker quality, not quite as good as Sony Ericsson Walkman phones I've had but when you consider the size of it, it's very good.

Drawbacks for me were the user interface. Having used Sony Ericsson's for a while I found the Nokia not quite so user friendly. For example when storing mixed items on the memory card e.g. Photos, music & videos they are all stored in the one folder, whereas on Sony Ericsson's they are automatically placed in their individual folders.

I wasn't very impressed with the build quality either, the gap at one side of the screen was considerably bigger than the other & the battery cover didn't quite fit flush. There was also a tiny spec of dirt inside the screen. I would recommend thoroughly checking it in the shop before buying or ordering online so you have the 7 day return option. As for me I returned mine to Carphone Warehouse to be told they can't change it for the same model! But I can exchange it for a different phone. I now have the Sony Ericsson W580i which I am much happy with for usability but the 5310 was a beautiful phone, if only I wasn't so fussy!

over-rated (John, Phillipines)

User Rating:

Alot slower then my 6233, camera seems to be of lower quality too. It takes 6-7 secs to take a picture, has only 176X144 video, unlike the 6233 which can do 640X480. I miss alot of calls because of the WEAK loud speakers. Music Player hangs alot/crashes/restarts. I had issues with the phonebook not opening "contacts not ready". Hopefully a firmware update will comeout soon to fix these problems.

has its good points (NaijaChic, Nigeria)

User Rating:

I'm a nokia lover and have a vodafone contract so I get upgrades every year whenever I'm in the UK. Last phone I got (from my Nigerian phone provider) was the E50 and that is the MOST USELESS phone ever. So, while getting my UK upgrade@carphone warehouse, the available phones for me (that were FREE) were the6300 and the 5310 Express. Chose the 5310 and I must say it's the BEST phone I've ever used. It's light, sassy, sexy, a fashion accessory as well as being functional. Quick switching times between applications (the E50 took 4EVER!!!) and practical. Only 2 problems I have is with the loudspeaker - not very loud, but I just use my headphones instead - and it is not compatible with iSync in my Mac. I would definitely recommend it.

capital C - little rap (JR Ewing, UK)

User Rating:

Started continually shutting itself off whenever the Music Player was on (I might not have the best taste in music but that's no excuse !) Battery life also turned out to be horrifically poor for such a small phone. Back using a Nokia Navigator - now that is a phone !!

para personas divertidas (cecilia marmol, bklyn ny 11207)

lo tiene todo ...this cell phone is perfect...
