well well well.am i happy or what,got this phone today after swapping it from nokia 7390,i agonised for ages about swapping to this as i went off samsungs for a while.now they have sorted quite a few things out on their phones they have lured me back.i dont know what everyone is moaning about the touch sensitive keys,mine are perfect no jumping around all over the place like e900,equivalent to using the d900.the camera is very good with nice and clear picture quality,also no delay on shutter like some peoples complaints(i think it sounds like a faulty one)excellent sound quality and the main thing to me that converted me back is the fact you can now use your own tones for message alerts,not just the default dodgy ones.the battery has been quite good,lasted ages andi been messing round on it loads.Its slim,light and sexy and possibly gonna be a fave of mine.so buy it NOW !!!!!!!

avoid this phone at all costs! its a terrible bit of kit from samsung, i have just returned mine to t-mobile as i gave up on it after only 2 days. the build quality is shocking, very flimsy upper section when slid open, feels like it could snap at any time. when making calls the touch sensitive buttons are annoying at best. you will catch them on your face and end a call, this happened to me 3 or 4 times before i came close to taking a hammer to it. and don't think the camera is anything to get excited about cos it ain't, if your looking at this handset and thinking 'well i'd like an ericsson K800i but i think there a bit too bulky for me, the samsung looks nice and compact and still has a good camera'............believe me it doesn't, the ericsson is bulky for good reason. its fitted with genuine camera parts. the led flash on this samsung is poor and will not illuminate low light scenes to anywhere near the standard of the ericsson with its xenon flash. anyway, i'm not writing a camera phone review. i just want to warn people that this phone is not of the quality samsung would like you to believe it is. i would say they've cut some huge corners with it and really rushed it through production to try and get something new out in the market. its very plastic, very flimsy. just avoid it.

I've had this phone a month & as much as it looks really beautiful it has so many drawbacks!

- Firstly the keypad wasn't constructed properly & clicked in certain places so when I texted I wasn't sure if I'd pressed a button or not. (I ended up fixing it with pliers, far from ideal! )
- the battery life seems a little short.
- the software generally exhibits a terrible delay.
- the camera has the longest delay, ever making it barely worth having as a feature.
- It has touch buttons which if you happen to inadvertently touch whilst texting means you end up losing the entire text.
- But most annoying of all is the predictive text options sometimes don't allow me to scroll down to select a different word from the list. It just navigates me up & down the text I've written.

I bought the purple version of this exclusive to Orange as it's got a gloss finish, rather than the dull blue, black versions which are matt in appearance. This phone is very cool, especially as it's the first phone to have VIVID TEXTING. This is where the phone sends you key words in picture format rather than the word in a text, for example I love you, is seen as I (red bouncy heart) you, which really livens up texting, like the emoticons on MSN messenger.

The screen is very clear & large & very colourful, & the slide function is the best I have seen on a phone to date, unlike the plasticy N95. Unlike some reviews here, I have had no issues with the 2 touch sensitive buttons, they're great, & besides most of the buttons aren't touch sensitive.

The U600 has many features like radio, & the great organiser, email etc puts it as a serious rival to Smartphone's, but without the bulky casing. This is so slim, has a great 3.2 mp camera & highly recommended.
